Bộ tranh thơ “Đức Phật với tuổi thơ”/The picture and poetry book entitled “The Buddha with children” là món quà tinh thần dành cho mọi gia đình/is a spiritual present to all families, đặc biệt là các em học sinh, thiếu nhi/especially children and students.
Mỗi khi mùa hè đến
Em lên chùa tập tu
Ngồi nghe Phật kể chuyện
Êm như tiếng mẹ ru
When the yearly summer comes
I enter a temple to practice Dharma
hear the Buddha tell stories
soothingly like a mother’s lullaby.
Ơn cha cao hơn núi
Tình mẹ rộng hơn sông
Con hãy chăm học giỏi
Nên người hiếu tổ tông
A Father’s devotion is higher than the mountains
mother’s love, vaster than rivers
All children should study hard
to become good, and appreciate ancestors
Mẹ ơi Phật có dạy
Người ít giận, hay cười
Lòng thanh trong, trí sáng
Như trăng sao trên trời.
Dear Mom! Buddha taught
Those who smile more are less distraught
have pure thoughts and bright minds
Are as lofty as the moon and stars a lot
Phật dạy muốn sạch đẹp
Phải dọn rác mỗi ngày
Đừng quăng bừa xuống đất
Điều đó thật không hay
Buddha said to keep things nice
you must clean up after yourself
Be sure to throw trash in the appropriate place
So the earth is clean for the human race
Con cá cũng có mẹ
Nên thả chúng về nhà
Phật khuyên em như thế
Yêu muôn loài quanh ta
Fish also have mothers
So release them to swim
One after another
At every lake him
Love and care for everything
Just like the Buddha’s teachings ring
Đất trời cho hơi thở
Cha mẹ cho áo cơm
Pháp Phật cho tuệ trí
Dưỡng nuôi ta lớn khôn
With breaths–from air and breeze
food and clothes–from mothers and fathers
wisdom and insight–from Buddha’s teachings
we grow up and walk the path of perfection
Dâng Phật đóa sen thanh
Con nguyện làm việc lành
Tập nói lời hiền dịu
Như chim hót trên cành
To Buddha I impart a lotus flower
I aspire to do good deeds, to live in power
and learn to speak with gentle words
just like a bird sings in a rain shower
Hạnh phúc ở đâu xa
Ngay ở dưới chân ta
Phật dạy con như thế
Khi dạo giữa vườn hoa
Happiness is not far away
It follows your every stride
Thus the Buddha taught me today
while walking in a flower garden with pride
Phật nâng cành hoa nhỏ
Giữa hội chúng tuổi thơ
Em lặng nhìn không nói
Mà an vui vô bờ
Buddha holds up a small flower
amid an assembly of youths
I silently watch, say nothing
and feel joy and peace — endlessly
Nếu lầm đường lạc bước
Bơ vơ cõi bụi hồng
Con nhớ quay về nhé
Quê nhà Phật đợi trông
In case you go astray
and feel adrift in clouds of grey
be mindful to return home
where the Buddha stands waiting today
Tết về trên quê ta
Nhớ truyền thống ông bà
Trồng cây Nêu trước ngõ
Đón xuân vui an hòa.
The lunar new year is here
Ancestral traditions come alive in good cheer
We raise a Tet pole at the gate
and greet a happy, peaceful Spring year
Ôi con đò quê hương
Chở nặng bao yêu thương
Công ơn thầy thuở ấy
Đưa đón em tới trường.
Oh the ferry of my hometown
too full with love
and gratitude to teachers
shuttled me to school
Dù bạn ở nơi đâu
Phi, Mỹ, hay Á, Âu
Phật dạy đừng phân biệt
Hãy xiết chặt tay nhau
Wherever you are
Africa, America or Qatar
Buddha has taught not to discriminate
Hold hands together, both near and far
Rừng cho em bóng mát
Ngăn lũ quét ruộng đồng
Nên em luôn chăm trồng
Cho cây tươi tốt mãi
Forest gives me cool shades
prevents the rainfall from ruining the fields
Thus I cherish the forest
planting and caring for trees
Lời Phật dạy đơn sơ
Mang niềm vui bất ngờ
Em nghe lòng dịu mát
Giữa đồi xanh ước mơ
Buddha’s words are great
Imparting joy, never too late
My mind becomes a gentle breeze
Enlightened in a new, clear state
Muốn trâu đừng phá lúa
Phải giữ chặt dây thôi
Chớ để lòng buông xuôi
Mà khổ đời con nhé
To keep the bull from ruining rice fields
just hold tight the leash
Don’t let the mind wander around
Suffered are those who live without mindfulness
Hôm nay em xin mẹ
Theo Phật vào làng quê
Giúp đỡ người nghèo khó
Dưỡng nuôi tâm Bồ-đề
With mom’s permission today
I follow Buddha to a village
helping a poor astray
and nurturing the Bodhi mind
Như gieo hạt cây lành
Hoa trái sẽ ngọt thanh
Người trí siêng làm thiện
An vui tự nhiên thành
Grown from good seeds,
trees will bear tasty fruits
Eagerly doing good deeds,
the wise naturally live in happiness
Sáng nay nắng chan hòa
Đường quê chim hót ca
Em tập theo hạnh Phật
Đi hóa độ muôn nhà
The sun shines brightly this morning
the birds tweet with sweet song to sing
I practice the Buddha’s path
I walk a thousand paths to spread Buddha’s teaching
Cúng dường Đức Thế Tôn
Thầy chỉ lối đưa đường
Cho con nguồn tuệ đức
Sống biết hiểu và thương
I now show my greatest respect to Buddha
who taught the path to liberation
giving me the source of wisdom and virtue
and the way to live with understanding and love
Con lắng nghe tiếng chuông
Để não phiền nhẹ buông
Tình thương thêm rộng lớn
Trí tuệ tỏ muôn phương
I listen to the pagoda bell ringing
to feel anxiety fading
to see the compassion pouring
and to have the wisdom shining
Chùa Một Cột nghiêm trang
Trông như búp sen vàng
Đẹp thay hồn dân tộc
Nét văn hóa Việt Nam
The One Pillar Pagoda so solemn
It look like a golden lotus blossom
So stunning is the national spirit
And the cultural tone of Vietnam
